The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution Tuesday, September 25 2007, stating it "unequivocally opposes" San Francisco diverting more water from the Tuol-umne River.
The board's resolution, and accompanying letter, will be submitted as part of public comment on a draft environmental report that includes the SFPUC's plans to divert more water from the Tuol-umne River. Public comments are due by 5 p.m. Monday.
"Reduced flows will harm the Tuolumne River's trout, salmon and steelhead fisheries," the letter states. "The diversion would also degrade whitewater recreation and cause economic harm to Sierra communities that depend on seasonal recreation."
