Great Race For Saving Water: Virtual Fund-Racer
April 25 at 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
As a result of regional mandates to “shelter in place”, all community events have been canceled. Our friends at the City of Palo Alto had to cancel their annual Earth Day Celebration and Great Race For Saving Water, of which we were founding partners back in 2013.
We’ve had to be quick on our toes and adapt to the rapidly changing situation. Despite our immense sadness that Team Tuolumne will not be able to physically run in this annual 5k to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and raise awareness about the Tuolumne, we wanted to let you know that our virtual “fund-racer” will continue as planned.
Our work to protect and restore the Tuolumne is being affected by COVID-19. As the market heads into a likely recession, small non-profits are losing funding rapidly. We must continue to fight for our most vulnerable populations and for the health of our planet. This situation is teaching us how to slow down and protect each other. Let’s also take this chance to lean into our collective power and get through this together!
Gather your friends, start a team, and fund-race from your own home! This is our chance to keep each other inspired and involved during uncertain times.
You have several options to get involved – choose your favorite to join the virtual movement!
- Sign up as a fund-racer! Top fundraisers will win prizes from Patagonia
- Donate to your favorite TRT staff member
- Share the fun with your friends and family and encourage them to support our work to protect and restore the Tuolumne in good times and the-not-so-good times.
Despite the uncertainty we’re facing, one thing remains certain: nature, and the Tuolumne River Watershed, will continue to provide us with inspiration and peace. They will continue to be a refuge for us when times get tough, but only if we continue to take care of them too.
