The Great Race for Saving Water 5K Fun Run/Walk is Back! We’re partnering with the City of Palo Alto again this year for the annual Great Race and Earth Day Festival. What’s more, we invite you to join the Great Race for Saving Water 5k as a run/walk-a-thon fundraising participant.  It is not mandatory to become a fundraiser to participate in the Great Race 5k Fun Run/Walk, but we would appreciate your extra effort!

Can’t participate in the race, but want to support our work? Make a donation to Tuolumne River Trust Team’s fundraising page.

Similar to our member-favorite Paddle to the Sea and By Land and By River outdoor adventures, this run/walk-a-thon gives you the opportunity to get involved with a cause you’re passionate about, set a fundraising goal for yourself, and help us raise the critical funds that support our work to protect and restore the Tuolumne while having some fun in the sun.
It is important to note that this fundraiser, though focused around the Great Race for Saving Water 5k Fun Run/Walk, is neither sponsored nor managed by the City of Palo Alto. It is an independent fundraiser organized and managed by the Tuolumne River Trust.

Become a TRT Friend-raiser

Participate in this run/walk-a-thon as a pledge gathering participant! Here’s what to do:

1. Register to participate in the City of Palo Alto’s Great Race for Saving Water and get ready to channel your inner salmon!

2. Create your unique fundraising page by joining the TRT fundraising team.

3. Set your fundraising goal, put up a photo or two, and share far and wide (think Facebook, Twitter, colleagues, friends, family, and others).

4. Wait for donations to roll in – don’t forget to periodically remind your friends and family to support you!

Worried about technology or time? It takes less than 2 minutes to set up your page. If you need help, we are happy to assist – get in touch with Lauren Barnum, fundraising page manager, at or 415-882-7252 ext. 307.

For Interested Nonprofits

Because we believe in the great work other local nonprofits are doing, we’re extending an invitation to include local nonprofits working on water, climate, and environmental issues in the San Francisquito Creek watershed as additional beneficiaries of this fundraiser. The funds your nonprofit raises can be used in any way you see fit. Who doesn’t love unrestricted funding?!

The process: If you choose to participate, you’ll need to agree to the fundraising terms set forth by TRT – they’re simple and straightforward. Then, TRT will set up your unique fundraising page for you to promote to your network and start accepting donations. TRT will cut your organization a check upon completion of the event, with funds disbursed no later than May 30, 2017.

To learn more, please email Lauren Barnum, TRT’s development and fundraising page manager, at  We want this to be as easy as possible for your organization, and hope you’ll help us make this inaugural fundraiser a huge success.
