PUBLIC COMMENT – FERC DEIS Evening Meeting

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) recently released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the relicensing of Don Pedro Dam and the licensing of La Grange Dam (both on the Tuolumne River).  To sum it up, it’s a very disappointing document.  We’ll be sharing our analysis soon, but in the meantime, we’re hoping you might put a couple of dates on your calendar.  There will be two public meetings in Modesto on Tuesday, March 26 (1:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm).  The deadline for written comments is April 12.

So Long, Dennett Dam!

After nearly a decade of hard work by TRT staff and partners and immeasurable help from supporters, Dennett Dam was finally removed from the lower Tuolumne River in September of 2018. This defunct structure threatened the lives of swimmers, obstructed fish and wildlife passage, and rendered the area useless for recreation for any kind for over 60 years. Check out the video below for more information about the removal of the dam and how TRT is continuing to improve access to the river for local communities.
