Branching Together:

Modesto Neighborhood Tree Planting Project

Green the Future.

We believe that the heart of our city lies not only in its concrete structures but also in the lush canopies that breathe life into our urban landscape. Through the Modesto Neighborhood Tree Planting Project, residents in South and West Modesto have the opportunity to receive a complimentary tree to plant in their own yard.

Planting trees not only enhances the beauty of your home but also contributes to the collective well-being of our entire community. As we expand our urban forest, we are also combating climate change, mitigating air pollution, and providing vital habitats for local wildlife.

By planting a tree, you are sowing the seeds of hope and growth, ensuring a healthier environment for your family and neighbors.

How it Works.

  1. Choose your tree: learn about different tree species and select the one you want to plant.

  2. Choose your delivery date: the trees will be available on two dates in October - pick which day works best for you.

  3. Get your tree: either pick up your tree from the Casa Cultural Center or have it delivered by TRT.

  4. Plant your tree: you will be provided with mulch, stakes and a planting guide to plant your tree in your own backyard or sign up to receive planting help from TRT volunteers.

  5. Watch your tree grow: help TRT track the progress of our green project by taking photos of your tree!

Why Trees?

Trees are deeply ingrained in our lives, touching us in immeasurable ways with their beauty, serenity, and sense of belonging.

  • Environmental Heroes

These leafy wonders offset urban development impacts, improve air quality, and reduce carbon dioxide. Urban trees are carbon storage superheroes, holding 700 million metric tons in the US alone. Not just that, they also protect our water systems, decreasing runoff and acting as barriers to floods.

  • More trees = better health!

Connecting with nature has been proven to boost mental and physical well-being significantly. Taking a stroll in urban parks reduces stress and uplifts moods, making life in the city a whole lot brighter. Greener environments support and encourage active lifestyles — access to green space will promote biking, walking, and exploring nature, keeping people moving.

  • Rooted Together

These tree planting programs work wonders in boosting community spirit and neighborhood pride. A study in Chicago proved that having urban forests strengthens neighbor bonds, boosts safety feelings, and makes us feel more at home in our common spaces.
