Emma Burt

Sierra Nevada Restoration Specialist

After spending her childhood basking in the Southern California sun, Emma took a meandering path throughout her college career, which eventually led her to finish a degree in botany at Oregon State University. With most of her practical plant experience rooted in agriculture, Emma is excited to approach land use from a different lens and is eager to learn how forest health affects the health of the river and wider watershed. She is specifically interested in how we pursue creative solutions for land and water management that underscore the interdependence and continuity of plants, humans, animals, and all other organisms in our state’s increasingly dry and fragile ecosystems. In addition to an interest in land use, Emma is also passionate about place-based primary education and hopes to eventually integrate her experiences into teaching in some capacity. She is very excited to be exploring more of her home state and is looking forward to contributing to the TRT team!
