Fun, stewardship, education, and advocacy all during a sailboat cruise on the San Francisco Bay!
Great Old Broads for Wilderness and Tuolumne River Trust invite you to join us for a day on the Bay. We will advocate for the SF Bay Delta, practice good stewardship by cleaning up a beach on Angel Island and journey out the Golden Gate and back from the Emeryville Marina.
Spend a day on the sailing ship S/V Valor on the San Francisco Bay and on Angel Island.
Itinerary (all times on the Bay approximate)
11:00 - Meet onshore near the S/V Valor at the Emeryville Marina. We will participate in a 15 minute presentation and conversation about the SF Bay Delta plan and the quest to save our life-giving estuary. We will then write letters and postcards advocating for the health of the Bay-Delta on which we depend
11:30 - Check-in, safety lesson, don our life jackets, waiver signing, ship manifest and a treat to eat.
Noon - Bon Voyage! Motor to Ayala Cove, Angel Island. No host lunch. You can purchase lunch there or bring your own.
After lunch - motor on a small boat to a beach only accessible by boat on the island for a beach clean up.
3:00 - Return to the S/V Valor. Bon Voyage to the Golden Gate! We will motor out the gate under the Golden Gate Bridge, then return by sail across the Bay to Emeryville. The journey will include from-the-bay tour of Alcatraz and other landmarks as conditions allow.
6:00 - Return to Emeryville Marina
COST - $75.00 for dues paying members of Great Old Broads for Wilderness. $100.00 for non-members. If you are not a member, join here. (This is a fraction of the cost of sailing cruises on the SF Bay. 90 minute cruises start at $99 and short Golden Gate trips cost much more.)
