Meadow Seed Collection

  • Off of Cottonwood Rd. near Cherry Lake Cottonwood Road CA United States (map)

As summer comes to a close we invite you to join TRT in our seed collection work days!

Join us for a day of hands-on conservation as we gather seeds to restore and rejuvenate our local meadows! Our Meadow Seed Collection Volunteer Day is a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, learn about native plant species, and contribute to the preservation of our local ecosystems.

What to Expect:

  • Guided Seed Collection: Our knowledgeable team of forest specialists will provide an overview of the meadow restoration project and guide you on how to properly collect seeds from native plants. You'll learn about the importance of native species in supporting local wildlife and maintaining a healthy environment.

  • Scenic Meadow Setting: Stanislaus National Forest offers a stunning backdrop with its rolling meadows, wildflowers, and serene surroundings. You'll have a chance to explore the beauty of nature as you help collect seeds.

  • Teamwork: This event is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded volunteers who share a passion for environmental conservation. Working together, we can make a significant impact on restoring these precious meadows.

  • Tools and Supplies: We'll provide all the necessary tools and materials, including collection bags, gloves, and guidance on seed identification.

  • Refreshments: Snacks and water will be available to keep you energized throughout the day.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather.

  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots.

  • Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

  • Lunch.

  • Reusable water bottle.

Registration:

Please register in advance to help us plan for supplies and refreshments, and so we can provide specific details such as where to meet up to caravan to the project. Sign up through our volnuteer form here and reach out to cailey@tuolumne.org with any questions.

Note: In the event of inclement weather, the event may be rescheduled or canceled. We will provide updates via email and our website.

Revegetation using native, locally sourced seeds is integral to the restoration of degraded ecosystems - we will plant these seeds in future meadow restoration projects in Stanislaus National Forest! We look forward to seeing you there!
