Since 2009, our "That's the Tuolumne in My Tap!" education program has reached over 50,000 students in the Bay Area and hosted more than 50 field trips and service-learning projects.

"That’s the Tuolumne in My Tap" is TRT’s award-winning Bay Area elementary school education program that utilizes hands-on, interactive lessons to teach 4th-7th grade students in the Bay Area where their water comes from and why and how to conserve it. The program fosters an ethic of stewardship in students and inspires them, along with their families and school administrators, to reduce water usage at home and at school. Our engaging and interactive classroom presentations cover river ecology, water use, and water strategies in accordance with the applicable standards for each grade. We also work with schools and community members to coordinate experiential activities and service-learning projects for students whenever possible. Through these hands-on experiences with science, service, and stewardship, our project educates and inspires students and community members to engage and participate in ecosystem stewardship activities that improve the overall long-term health of the watershed.

Thanks to the support of past project funders, this program and all materials and activities associated with it are available to schools free of charge through in-person presentations and our new online Watershed Education Toolkit at https://www.tuolumne.org/water-education-toolkit-request/.
