Celebrating Major Milestones

We can accomplish more together, and 2021 showed us some of what is possible when we come together with diverse stakeholders to protect the places and values that are most important to us. Last year, we reached some major milestones, and we know that with the support of our partners and people like you, we can accomplish even more in 2022.

In 2021, we started a new volunteer initiative that expanded our restoration impact in the headwaters. We worked with 348 volunteers and 11 different partner organizations and agencies, putting in 5,549 hours of labor that benefited our public lands!

These volunteer-powered efforts will help more people enjoy the outdoors on trails and restore areas that are still recovering from damage from the Rim Fire.

We're sharing the following metrics with you as part of a series that highlights our accomplishments in 2021. Thank you for being part of Team Tuolumne!

  • 39.5 miles of hiking trails maintained and repaired

  • 3.5 miles of new hiking and biking trails built

  • 2 miles of unauthorized OHV (motorized) trails were restored and naturalized

  • 9 acres of meadow habitat restored with invasive plant and small conifer removal

Thanks to our partnerships with the Forest Service, Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps, and paid contractors, we were able to accomplish:

  • 30 miles of fuel break line cut for prescribed burn prep

  • 150 acres prepped for prescribed burning with mastication treatments

  • 565 acres of forest had prescribed burn treatments applied by the Forest Service

  • 109,566 trees planted in 583 acres planted in the Rim Fire burn area!
