BREAKING NEWS! A Win For Rivers

You may remember our recent call to action to “Stop the Water Scam!”

We were advocating to stop the destructive “More Water Now” ballot initiative that would fast-track environmentally harmful projects with limited environmental review or oversight. If the “More Water Now” initiative was a success, the government would spend 3 billion taxpayer dollars a year to build dams and various other harmful projects for our rivers. This would be devastating for our already fragile ecosystems and would undo years of work to protect and restore them.

In partnership with a dedicated coalition of environmental advocates, led by Friends of the River, we were able to create awareness around this water scam and build opposition to the proposal. Thanks to this powerful opposition movement, the initiative was unable to gain ground and will not be on the ballot in November. This is a huge win for our rivers and is a perfect example of the impact we can have when we join forces.

Thank you for responding to our action alert, and being a part of advocating for water policies that take science and our environment into account.
